Shurely shome mishtake?

Good news for the LibDems in Hurworth - the Tory's latest leaflet boldly states, "We are fast approaching May 4th when the local elections are to be held."

Well only 24 hours out, girls. I don't suppose Martin Swainston and Malcolm Dunstone will mind if the Tories are chasing votes on the Friday...

Remind us all Nick, who has the Labour Party got standing in Hurworth?

That would be why it's good news for the Lib Dems, Ian.

When is the count and the result known?

The grand announcement of Labour's candidates for Hurworth will be made "presently".

The Count and the result, for the first time in living memory, will be done on the following day (owing to the complexity of verifying postal ballot forms). I will be blogging exclusively from the Count, with up-to-the-minute results and gossip.

Nick is it open to the public?

No - tickets are limited. If you are a candidate or an agent, you'll get one, and the parties get an allowance for a few workers.

Maybe you could blag a ticket from the local Tories or LibDems, or indeed one of Labour's candidates for Hurworth...:)

If not, my comprehensive blogging service will keep you up-to-speed with the thrills and spills.

Some councils (eg Hull, and I think Newcastle) have taken to webcasting live declarations from the count...
